North Rim of the Grand Canyon
The next morning we we decided to explore the rugged beauty of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. As we journeyed up the Kaibab Plateau from Kanab, we couldn’t help but be awed by the stunning scenery and fall colors surrounding us. The Grand Canyon’s natural wonder has been around for millions of years, with the Colorado River cutting through its impressive layers of rock, creating a spectacle that truly takes our breath away.
After reaching the North Rim Visitor Center, we decided to hike out to Bright Angel Point, where we were treated to unparalleled panoramic views of the vast expanse of the Grand Canyon. As we stood at the edge of the cliff, gazing out at the horizon, we felt truly humbled by the natural wonder before us.
We then retreated to the Grand Canyon Lodge for a delicious and sumptuous lunch. The lodge itself has a rich history, originally built in 1927, and has undergone numerous renovations over the years to maintain its rustic charm. We couldn’t help but feel transported back in time as we admired the log and stone architecture, which blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
After lunch, we ventured out onto the 15-mile dirt road to Point Sublime, which proved to be quite the adventure. Despite the rough terrain, the fall colors of the forest were nothing short of stunning. We even encountered a herd of buffalo crossing the road ahead of us, which added to the wildness of the experience. Click on thumbnail to view image
When we finally arrived at Point Sublime, we were completely blown away by the view before us. The sheer size and beauty of the Grand Canyon is truly awe-inspiring, and we couldn’t help but feel privileged to witness such a breathtaking sight. As the sun began to set, we decided to take some of the forest service roads back to the main highway, but ended up getting a little lost along the way. However, this detour only added to the adventure and thrill of the day. All in all, our trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon was an unforgettable experience, filled with awe-inspiring views and heart-pumping adventure.
