On Thursday October 24th we found ourselves driving across the plains along with the winds and tumble weeds. After leaving St Louis the road was smooth and straight for miles driving through Kansas to Topeka. Here we stayed at the Deer Creek Valley RV Park, one of the nicest parks we have stayed at on this trip.
Another full day of driving across Kansas was uneventful with panoramic views of the blue sky and straight road. Arriving in Oakley, Kansas we stayed at the High Plains Camping and RV Resort.
After setting up camp we had time to do some sightseeing. We decided to go and see one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas, 20 miles south of Oakley, we found the Monument Rocks, heavily sculpted chalk monoliths that are also referred to as the Chalk Pyramids. The unusual spires and shapes stand out in the middle of the plains of western Kansas, and not another soul around when we were there.
